How to Play
Rules, modes and scoring, everything in five minutes.
The basic rule
Two clubs appear. You type the name of a player who made official senior appearances for both.
Only first-team competitive spells count. Players who were only in a youth setup, or who signed but never played, will not always be accepted.
How answers are checked
Your answer is first looked up on Transfermarkt, then that player's career history is pulled and checked against both clubs.
If the connection fails, a local backup database takes over. When that happens you will see a warning on screen, because the local data is less reliable than the primary source.
The timer pauses while checking, so a slow connection never costs you time.
Modes
Sudden Death
First correct answer takes the round. You choose the series length (3, 5 or 7 rounds) at the start.
Turn Based
Players alternate. A name that has already been used cannot be repeated. Running out of time hands the round over.
Blitz
Name as many valid players as you can before the clock expires. Most correct answers wins.
Alternating
With this enabled, both players pick a club and two rounds are played, which cancels out any advantage from choosing your own pairing.
Against the AI
Three difficulty levels. On easy the AI answers slowly and often wrongly; on hard it is fast and accurate.
The AI cannot answer while your guess is being validated, so a slow connection will not cost you the round.
Playing online
One player generates a room code, the other enters it. Codes use letters only, so there is no confusion between 0 and O.
If both players answer at once, the one who submitted first wins, not whoever's check finishes first.
Tips
- Think first about players with long, wandering careers
- Do not overlook loan spells; they are the most commonly missed category
- Consider goalkeepers and defenders, they tend to have more clubs
- Clubs in the same city almost always share a deep pool of players
