Common is a free trivia game that tests your football memory. Two clubs appear on screen and you have to name a real player who turned out for both. Arsenal and Real Madrid? Emmanuel Adebayor or Mesut Özil. Santos and Barcelona? Neymar comes to mind. The idea looks simple, then quietly turns into an exam on everything you have absorbed over the years.
Every answer is checked instantly against more than 90,000 real player careers compiled from Transfermarkt squads. The database covers every season of nine major European leagues since 1990: the Premier League, La Liga, the Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, the Süper Lig, the Primeira Liga, the Eredivisie and the Jupiler Pro League. Champions League history, the marquee MLS clubs, the Brazilian sides that export to Europe and the golden-era Chinese Super League squads are in there too.
Play a friend online, hand the device back and forth on the same screen, or train against the AI. In online matches both players pick their club at the same time; you cannot see your opponent's choice, only that they are ready. In Sudden Death the first valid answer takes the round, in Turn Based players alternate and no name may be reused, and in Blitz whoever lands the most correct answers in 30 seconds wins. In Nationality mode the second side is a country rather than a club. The How to Play page has the detail.
In Arena mode a host opens a lobby and any number of viewers join through an invite link. Each round serves a club pairing from the major leagues, everyone answers at once, and a leaderboard builds itself. It was designed for community streams.
When you are playing out loud and someone insists a player never turned out there, open Search and type both clubs: every shared player in the database is listed instantly. Type a single player's name instead and you get their full club career, including the sides they managed.
Behind every pairing in the game there is a transfer story. Our blog collects the best of them: the players who crossed the Clásico divide, the ones who crossed Milan, the line nobody crosses between Liverpool and Manchester United, the traffic between Bayern and Dortmund, the Istanbul derby crossings and the golden age of the Chinese Super League.
Common is free, needs no account and runs in the browser. Add it to your home screen and it behaves like an app.
